For the 2’s and 3’s program, we read Bark, George by Jules Feiffer. George’s mother begs him to bark like a dog, but he continues to make barnyard animal noises instead! Like a good mommy, George’s mother takes him to the vet to see what can be done. Turns out that George ate some things that didn’t agree with his system! The kids were belly-laughing the entire story, so stop by the library to check out this book if your little one needs something simple, yet hilarious to read.

Our craft for the week was a handprint sheep. We traced our hands onto paper plates like this:

After we traced, we glued eyes onto the thumb. Then we grabbed our crayons, drew a nose and ears, and embellished the background. Last, we put glue on the body and gave our sheep some wool! What a nice fluffy sheep!

For the 4’s and 5’s program, we read Bark, George, as well as Duck on a Bike by David Shannon. Duck sees a bike parked

outside the farmhouse, and he decides that hopping on and riding it is a great idea! Some of the other farm animals have dissenting thoughts, but ultimately they all find bikes to ride as well. This book is humorous while interjecting the review of farm animal noises. It was easy for me to have the kids yell the noises while reading, so your child could do the same.

We did handprint sheep in the 4’s and 5’s program, as well as dirty pigs! I gave each child a pig picture, and we painted dirt onto the pig. The kids enjoyed making their pigs as muddy as possible.

Pajama Time was offered this week as well. We read books about sheep and sleep (say that three times fast!). Russell the Sheep by Rob Scotton, and Ten Little Lambs by Alice McGinty are two books about sheep who can’t sleep! Both books have an element of fun,

but are both great bedtime stories. Our last book was Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown. This story chronicles a day on the farm, ending with the moon rising over the barnyard. This is a wonderful bedtime book, as well as a wonderful anytime book.

The Pajama Timers made fluffy sheep this week too! I had some cutouts for the kids to embellish. Here is what mine looked like:
